Matthew 19:3-9

3 The Pharisees also came unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause?

4 And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made [them] at the beginning made them male and female,

5 And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?

6 Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not...

Divorce and Remarriage Part 1

Posted by Lyndon V Bechtel on Saturday, July 29, 2017, In : Christian Living

I have discovered while studying this subject that this is a very complex issue. It is very hard to study God's Word free of our pre-suppositions.  And often times I find myself wondering at what appears to be contradictions in God's Word. Let me give you an example:

Romans 4:1-4  What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found?

For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God.

For what saith the script...

Ducklings and Chicks, Wheat and Tares

The following by Pastor Rolland Starr is from The Cornerstone Challenge, June 1986:

I remember reading of a man named Dr. R.B. Shattuck who put duck eggs under a brooding hen. Some very amusing things happened, as he related. He said that next to human beings, hens are the most easily hum-bugged creatures and that putting duck eggs under a hen is one of the biggest jokes on that farm. When the ducks are hatched it is a tragedy for the hen and a comedy for the bystanders. The ducklings go where...

Christian Parents are Losing Their Children

The following article by Evangelist Paul Freeman was first published by wayoflife.org in O Timothy magazine Vol. 7, Issue 7, 1990. It was first preached more than 30 years ago, but it is still relevant today.

It is quite obvious today that many Christians are losing their children. There is nothing in their lives to give rise to the hope that they are bound for Heaven. In the light of Prov. 22:6, it appears that they are not being raised in the way th...

Is God Reactionary?

Posted by Lyndon V Bechtel on Tuesday, October 15, 2013, In : Christian Living
Does God react to mans choices?

"O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!" (Mat. 23:37).

The Bible is full of evidence that God interacts with man as Man makes decisions. One may call it reactionary if he likes bu
t its all in the terms we use to explain how God interacts with mans decisions. Just because God knew...

A Critical eye?

A “CRITICAL EYE” The following is excerpted from  (Friday Church News Notes, February 25, 2011, www.wayoflife.org fbns@wayoflife.org, 866-295-4143) - and posted on manifestedbythelight.com on February 27-20011
Recently a graduate of a fundamental Baptist Bible college told me that he had learned at school not to have a “critical eye.” He learned that he shouldn’t be critical of the music that was played, because the important thing is to “have a heart for God” and to be “edif...

Friend of sinners vs. Friend of the world.

FRIEND OF SINNERS VS. FRIEND OF THE WORLD

The following is excerpted from (www.wayoflife.org fbns@wayoflife.org, 866-295-4143)  and posted on manifestedbythelight.com Jan 28-2011.

God’s people should be friends of sinners but not friends of the world (James 4:4). To be a friend of sinners is to love them and desire that they be saved. To be a friend of the world is to love sin and the present evil world system whose god is the devil (2 Cor. 4:4). the characteristics of the world are the lu...
